USDT from ERC20 to TRC20
People do not leave Ethereum because Tron is better. They leave because Ethereum prices every transfer against demand for the next block, and a transfer that cost cents this morning can cost several dollars this afternoon. Moving to TRC20 is how a working balance stops being hostage to that.
Why the number keeps changing
Ethereum runs an auction for block space. The fee is whatever the market clears at when your transfer goes in, which is why no honest page can publish a fixed price for leaving it. What a quote can do is fix the number for the moment you agreed to it, which is what happens here.
The one-way instinct is wrong
Leaving Ethereum feels final, and it is not. USDT on Tron moves back to ERC20 the same way it left, at the same kind of cost. Treat it as choosing where a balance sits this month, not as burning a bridge.
What you give up
Ethereum is accepted everywhere; Tron is accepted almost everywhere. If the person or service you are paying named ERC20 specifically, moving to TRC20 to save on fees costs you a second transfer back. Check what the far end wants before you optimise for price.
Small amounts are where this bites hardest
A fee that is a rounding error on ten thousand dollars is most of the transfer on fifty. That asymmetry is why balances used for working payments drift off Ethereum first, while balances that sit still tend to stay. If you are moving money weekly rather than yearly, the arithmetic decides for you.
The wrong-chain risk does not follow you
Both ends of this route use address formats that cannot be confused: 0x on Ethereum, a leading T on Tron. Once the balance is on TRC20 the classic mistake, pasting an address meant for one EVM chain into another, is not available to you any more.

Several wallets in one account, unlinked on-chain
Hold as many wallets as you need inside one Telegram account. Their addresses are not linked on-chain, so paying from one tells nobody about the others. Send to a @username or to any address.
Questions
Do I need ETH to move USDT off Ethereum?
No. The ETH fee is charged inside the operation, in USDT.
Why can you not publish a fixed price for this?
Because Ethereum has none. Its fee is set by demand at the moment of sending; the wallet quotes the real figure when you ask and holds it while you decide.
Can I move back to ERC20 later?
Yes, the same way and at the same kind of cost. Nothing about leaving is one-way.
