Base is the one chain here without USDT. That absence is the most useful thing to know about it. It carries USDC and ETH, and nothing else. If someone asked you for Tether on Base, the answer is that you will be moving USDC instead, or moving to a different chain — and it is better to learn that now than at the confirmation screen.
USDC is the dollar on Base
Base was built around USDC and that is what circulates there. Sending dollars to Base means sending USDC; there is no Tether route into it in this wallet.
Gas in ETH, out of the transfer
Like the other rollups, Base charges gas in ETH, at a small fraction of Ethereum’s cost. The fee is inside the operation, so a balance of USDC alone is enough to send.
Two assets, deliberately
Plenty of tokens exist on Base. Almost none of them are things people move as money, so they are not offered — the same rule that keeps the wrapped assets off every other chain here.
